Barack Obama negotiated with the Republicans to extend the Bush era, 2001 and 2003, tax cuts for the rich, click here and here to read more about those tax cuts, but what's going unnoticed by most people in this deal with Republicans is the Social Security funding cut for a year to put extra money into the economy (Barack Obama just gave the right wing neocons what they've been wanting for many years). I suggest this is the beginning of the end of Social Security as we know it.
Barack Obama's deal with the Republicans will run up the National debt to a crisis level in 2011 and the funding cut to Social Security will further weaken Social Security. Getting the picture? This time next year we'll be in deep, crisis level, debt. A perfect environment to blame Social programs like Social Security and Medicare for all of our National debt problems. I can hear the rhetoric from Barack Obama and the Republicans as I write. They will be saying: "We have a debt crisis on our hands and everyone will have suffer and give up some of the things we've enjoyed over the years, It's time for everyone to do a little belt tightening".
The Senate will be voting on this Barack Obama, Republican deal soon and if this deal is passed by the Senate America will never be the same. It will be interesting to see if it takes 60 votes or 51 votes to pass this deal. Will the Senate Democrats filibuster or will they fold like Barack Obama? It's gut check time the Senate Democrats that claim to be for the middle class and I suspect we will find them gutless.
