Representative Michele Bachmann may have given the Minnesota State Fair a little too much love.
The Minnesota Republican, an outspoken conservative locked in what is expected to be an expensive re-election campaign, shows off the fair’s logo twice in her new campaign ad. And that, the fair says, is not allowed.
The logo for the fair, which started last week and ends Sept. 6, appears on screen during a television spot that says that Ms. Bachmann’s Democratic opponent, Tarryl Clark, voted to raise taxes on fair favorites like corn dogs and beer.
Brienna Schuette, a spokeswoman for the fair, wrote in an e-mail Tuesday that the fair’s logo is trademarked, that Ms. Bachmann’s campaign did not ask permission to use it in their ad and that the campaign was being asked “to end the unauthorized usage of the Minnesota State Fair logo.”
