Overheard at the mall
A huge winter blizzard dumped a foot or more of blowing snow on the Mankato, Minn., area on Saturday. Yet Minnesotans are a determined lot ... especially when it comes to shopping.
A friend of ours was traipsing the toy department at Target in the midst of the event, and ... well ... we'll let him tell the story:
I swear that I actually heard the following with my own ears. I was in the Mankato Target during the storm yesterday, just about an hour before it would have been impossible to get home at all.... Anyway, while I was browsing in the toy section, two coeds walked by, one of whom was talking on her cell phone. As she passed by, I then heard her remark, in all seriousness: "They're closing the roads! Can you believe it? DON'T THEY KNOW THAT PEOPLE HAVE RISKED THEIR LIVES TO GET TO THE MALL?"Who says some folks don't have priorities?
(Hats off to "Scooters" and the Mankato Free Press.)
